A very busy week…

What an amazing series of events this week!

On Monday, our Board met in our Organizational Meeting to approve Bylaws and complete many other tasks related to setting up a non-profit, so THANKS to the Board.

On Wednesday, we did our Agency Assessment at pilot agency UnBoundRVA in the morning (THANKS Elizabeth!), and THEN got to see them receive the award for Nonprofit Partner at the RVA Companies To Watch event that same evening.  Few dry eyes left in the house after their video aired!  Congratulations again to UnBoundRVA Sarah Mullens and Richard Luck on this awesome achievement!  See our Twitter feed for images of that event!

On Thursday, CEO Tom Anderson and a few other IT4Causes leaders joined The Daily Planet for the Grand Opening of the new Southside Community Health Center! It was great to be part of the $1.6M project that created a new access point for primary and behavioral health for anyone, regardless of insurance or income. The facility also contains 20 beds of Medical Respite, a program for people being discharged from the hospital without a home to recuperate from a hospital stay while hopefully finding better housing.

And final preparations are under way for the Getting To Know IT4Causes event this coming Monday at Impact Makers. If you don’t have your ticket yet, you might want to jump on that now as we have over 100 tickets given out so far and we are heading towards a sellout!

IT4Causes Founder Featured in Richmond Times-Dispatch

IT4Causes’ Founder & CEO, Tom Anderson, was one of several leaders highlighted in a recent article on Leadership Metro Richmond (LMR). in the business section of the Richmond Times Dispatch. Tom was part of LMR’s Class of 2014, and participation in the program was instrumental in his decision to start a new organization to meet the information technology needs of small to midsized nonprofits in RVA.

Leadership Metro Richmond, now in its 35th year, is the region’s premier leadership development program.  According to LMR’s CEO Myra Goodman Smith, “We believe that when you connect diverse individuals, they develop relationships of understanding and cooperation.”

Tom couldn’t agree more.  “My LMR experience introduced me to many different  issues in and around Richmond, and I came away from that looking for ways to work with others to find solutions.  It also got me thinking that many small agencies face the same basic problems in IT.  By using a common strategy to address the common IT needs of many agencies, I think IT4Causes can enable more efficient and effective services that will have an impact in lots of diverse missions in the region.”

Learn more about IT4Causes on Monday, November 3, from 6 pm to 8 pm at !mpactmakers. RSVP at Getting To Know IT4Causes.

IT4Causes Is All Around Town

We got to meet a lot of people at the RVATechJam down at Haxall Point last Friday.  It was a great event for us, with right around 40 new contacts, plus we got to watch some awesome bands!

This Friday October 24, Tom will be hanging out with Berkana Enterprise Consulting and William & Mary’s Center for Corporate Education at InnoVAte Virginia at the Cultural Arts Center of Glen Allen.  Stop by and say “Hi” and learn about IT4Causes and great training opportunities in Agile practices.

And don’t forget, our “Getting To Know IT4Causes” event is taking place on Monday 11/3 at !mpact Makers.  It looks like we’ll have a great crowd to network with while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and drinks (and of course, hearing more about how we are “Shaking Up IT For Good” by launching a new model that meets the IT needs of small to midsized nonprofits)!  If at all possible, please RSVP by October 27 so we have an accurate headcount to our caterer.
